Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia - its political, cultural and economic centre.

Its strategic importance by the Danube, on the crossroads of important trade routes, means it is an important partner – for neighbouring Prague, Vienna and Budapest.

Bratislava has a long history and diverse cultural heritage. Its features include the Castle, SNP Bridge, Slavín, Kamzík TV Tower, Presidential Palace, St. Michael’s Tower, St. Martin’s Cathedral, and the distinctive architecture and winding alleys of the Old Town that attract domestic and international tourists.

The city is proud of its striking contemporary architecture – including the National Bank of Slovakia, Apollo Bridge, River Park and the new Slovak National Theatre. Such projects have gained international recognition and underline Bratislava’s position as a vibrant and dynamic European city.

Thanks to Bratislava, Slovakia is among the fastest growing economies in the European Union.
